Soundscape 2

Another soundscape here, this one of a bus on the local system. On the way there and the way back I just sat on the bus recording everything with my phone. I only ended up using the audio from the trip back from the store because the trip there was just the sound of the bus moving due to me having to move to the back. There was a whole section in the audio that was somewhere around 2 minutes long of just people getting onto the bus. There were more people with walkers than there was space to accommodate them. In the end people had to move around and rearrange their grocery bags in order to fit everyone. Easily the hardest part of this assignment was parsing through the audio I gathered. The raw clip I ended up taking all of the sound from was over 30 minutes long and I had to cut it down to 3 and a half. Overall I think I did a good job. There’s really only one spot where you can tell there was a cut; it otherwise flows smoothly. With the narration I really tried holding back compared to the last soundscape I did. In the one on the dining hall, I felt like I really overshadowed the sound of the space. I fear that I may have been a bit too sparse here, but at the same time I wanted to let the other people on the bus be a major point of the audio. In terms of the narration content, I tried going for a bit more of an informative feel to it. I am personally a major proponent for strong public transport which is woefully lacking in this country. As such, I tried to include a few reasons why public transport is better than the current individual car system we have.
