Audio Playground 5

The prompt here confused me: make an audio portrait of a character made with stuff around the house. For once, the hardest part of the whole process was actually coming up with the idea. There’s nothing in my dorm that I would be able to make a distinct character around with the glaring exception of the weird looking wolf mask that I bought as a Halloween costume. So I knew I needed to do something about a wolf man but from there the ideas ran dry until I found a game called Speed Dating for Ghosts and then the idea for a wolf man going on a date came to be. I also thought it would be funny if the wolf man got increasingly annoyed by the other person asking about his wolf head. In a way, I guess you could also see it as a commentary on the dehumanization of people with bodies outside of the stereotypical norm. Recording was done in my dorm this time underneath a blanket. I think this one worked just as well as the closet in terms of audio quality with the additional benefit of my body not being compressed into a cube. My delivery is pretty good here considering the time limits. Immediately after recording I thought I had rushed through it, but listening back I think I managed a pretty realistic pace while keeping within a minute. I tried to get restaurant ambience from Freesound.org. The romantic music was pulled from FreeMusicArchive (specifically the track Romantic Table by Till Paradiso). From there editing was really simple, being just some quick volume adjustments on the different tracks. I actually included a cover image this time! It’s just me in my dorm dressed as how I imagine Toby to look.
