Scripted Story, April 8

First interview is complete! Thank you to my friend Monika for the interview. I plan to use her interview as little sprinklings throughout the story. She gives insight into the experience of being a trans woman in the United States, a perspective that many not trans people lack knowledge of especially in discussions of trans issues. However I do still need to cut down the interview into sizeable chunks as well as piece it together with the story I’m telling. Speaking of, the draft is coming along slowly. I have the introduction finished completely. I feel that it grabs the listener’s attention while also bringing in the aspect of my own experiences which will come up repeatedly. Otherwise, nothing is currently concrete. The script is mostly an outline and will remain as one until I have conducted all of my interviews. Research is largely finished. I have found numerous sources from places like the Human Rights Campaign that discuss the issue of anti-trans violence. The thing that has really shocked me is the amount of transphobic news sources that come up when I search for trans activism. Around half of the websites are blatant in their hate. Still, I press on because I have found actually useful information.
