Scripted Story

Here it is, the final podcast! This is definitely the most time consuming podcast that we’ve made. Disregarding the 2 hours I spent literally conducting the interviews, there is still the days I spent writing the script, recording the narration, and editing everything together. I am actually really proud of the final product. Though there were a few things in the script that I had to cut for time, I still feel like I captured the gravity of the issue. That was really important to me because this is something that is so close to me. The biggest challenge was staying within the time limits. As mentioned earlier, I had way more stuff than would fit. By the end of the editing process I was trying to shave off tiny, less than a second pauses in between statements so the outro can fit under the 8 minute limit. My delivery in the narration is well executed in my opinion. I speak authoritatively and with an easily followable speed. I pulled a quote from one of my sources and I really like the idea I had for the delivery. I purposefully changed the timbre of my voice to make it sound more like a different person. Then I added a slight distortion effect to really emphasize that these are the words of a different person. I am very happy with the music I found for this. All of them fit the tone that I wanted for the different sections, especially the track by Schemawound. That section fits so wonderfully with the music. I did more crossfades between the music tracks. This time, however, the music was quite a bit louder than everything else in the mix. This means that the crossfade isn’t heard as much because I had to lower the base volume down so much.
