Delivering the Goods, Outlining, Ad Libbing
I feel that my delivery is at a very nice pace during the second soundscape project, specifically from around 20 seconds to about 34 seconds. It’s slow and even while not feeling like it overstays its welcome. In contrast, the outro to my first soundscape is very rushed. From 3:20 to the end, I’m talking way too fast for many of the words to have any effect.
As for the feeling in a delivery, I have to point to my second audio playground. The screaming section from 33 seconds to 42 seconds just works wonderfully. It’s just as intense as I wanted it to be, and really makes the listener feel scared. For something that’s nonfiction, I would like to once more look at my second soundscape particularly from 1:25 to 1:45. I feel that the emotion here is way more subtle but it still draws the listener in. My voice is varied during the clip while offering that type of tone you use when trying to convince someone of the benefits of something.
Finally we get to research. I need to do a lot of research. For my expert interview, I’m planning on interviewing my sister on what it’s like being an occupational therapist. To start with research questions, I would need to know some basics of the field. What does an OT do? How do they differ from physical therapists? I would also need to know more of the specifics regarding my sister’s career history. Where did she get her degree? Where has she worked in the past? Where is she working now? The first set of questions can be answered from a quick Google search and reading the Wikipedia article. The second set could be garnered from asking my sister or my mom beforehand. I’ll probably go with asking my mom because I don’t want to ask my sister too many basic questions.
